It's called Ametista in Portuguese. In the Greek mythology AMETHISTOS was a maiden wooed by the god of wine Dionysus who, in order to stay chaste,asked artemis to convert her into a white rock. Dionysus,humiliated, poured red wine on the rock, staining the crystals that became purple. From Grey to purple, transparent or translucent, Amethyst has always been one of the most valuable gemstones.

Amethyst brings energy, equilibrium and spirituality. Linked to the seventh chackra, it purifies and cleans the body and the mind. It enhances understanding and persuasion. Sedative in states of pain and anguish, it has affinity with the Signs of Aries, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces and Libra.
